Aomori City
1.ASPAM (Aomori Prefectural Center for Tourism and Industry)
There is an observation deck to enjoy viewing the city, a panorama with a 360-degree multiscreen panoramic projection that gives a realistic sensation, and areas to promote local produce. Live Tsugaru shamisen performances are also presented free of charge.

2.Seikan memorial ferry and shop “Hakkoda-Maru”
Hakkodamaru is a memorial ship that introduces the history of the Seikan ferry, which ended its service in 1988. Visitors to the ship can take a look at its engine room and gangplank used during its service years. The illuminated ship accentuates the waterfront at night.

3.Munakata Shiko Memorial Museum of Art
This museum houses about 700 block prints of Munakata Shiko, a native of Aomori and a world-famous printer. About 100 prints are displayed regularly, and the display is rotated four times a year.

4.Gappo Park
This is a waterfront park in harmony with old pine trees and white sand on the beach. There are about 600 cherry blossom trees, 700 black pine trees, and 1,000 sweet briers. Monuments inscribed with Takuboku Ishikawa’s poems are placed in the park.

5.Showa Daibutsu (great image of Buddha) in Seiryuji Temple
In the Seiryuji Temple lies Japan’s largest great image of Buddha called the Showa Daibutsu and made of bronze. On the premises, there is a five-story 39-meter high pagoda that is Japan’s fourth highest five-story pagoda and made totally of hiba arborvitaes. There is also a main hall and a vermilion-lacquered Daishido hall.

6.Aquarium Asamushi
A large number of rare aquatic animals from Aomori Prefecture and the whole world are on display. A 15-meter long walk-through tunnel, sea otter feeding, and dolphin shows are popular among visitors.
