Mother Tree (Nishimeya Village)

Five minutes after entering a walk for natural observation from the Tsugaru Pass, one will find a giant beech called the Mother Tree, which is more than 400 years old. One will be overwhelmed by its strong life power.

Shirakami trekking courses (Nishimeya Village)

Shirakami trekking courses include “a walking course to the Anmon Falls” (approximately two hours) for a walk along a mountain stream through a mysterious forest densely populated with old trees like beech trees, “a walking course through a beech forest” (approximately one hour) for a casual walk through a beech forest, and “a walking course for the observation of nature” (approximately four hours) for a walk to enjoy observing plants and wild birds.

Anmon Falls (Nishimeya Village)

The Anmon Falls is a collective term for three falls with a head drop of 26 meters, 37 meters, and 42 meters respectively, located at the headstream of the Iwaki River in the Shirakami-Sanchi. The Anmon Falls is one of the most famous scenic spots in the Shirakami-Sanchi. The falls with water spilling out of a beech forest, a hoard of clear water, is a sight one must see.

Nationally designated scenic spot Tanesashi Coast (Hachinohe City)

A coast with natural turf spreading to the shoreline as seen in the Tanesashi Coast is rarely seen in other parts of Japan. The coast is a scenic point with white sand, green pines, rocks of various sizes, and islets located one after another. The coast is filled with beautiful seaside plants from spring to fall.

Towada Hachimantai National Park Hakkoda (Aomori City)

Hakkoda consists of the northern and southern Hakkoda Mountains with the highest summit 1,585 meters above sea level. Hakkoda is a mine of bogs and alpine plants, and a majestic landscape can be enjoyed from the ropeway through the four seasons.

An apple orchard and Mount Iwaki (Hirosaki City)

There are numerous apple orchards around the foot of Mount Iwaki, which is popularly known as Tsugaru Fuji. In fact, Aomori Prefecture is the largest apple producer in Japan. Each year apples begin to ripen red around mid-July and many visitors come to these orchards to harvest apples in September and October.

Lake Towada (Towada City)

Lake Towada is a double caldera lake at the top of a 400-meter-high mountain. Scenery can be enjoyed from above the lake, and the observation deck through the four seasons. In particular, its fall foliage is said to be the most beautiful in Japan.

Lake Juni and Aoike (Fukaura Town)

Lake Juni consists of 33 lakes and ponds that are scattered in the western part of the World Natural Heritage Site “Shirakami-Sanchi.” One of them is called Aoike (meaning a blue pond), the surface of which is mysteriously shining and beautiful, like blue ink melting down.

Oirase Gorge (Towada City)

The Oirase Gorge is located 14 kilometers from Nenokuchi of Lake Towada. Along the gorge with a level difference of about 200 meters, scenic spots like the Choshi Fall, Ashura Stream, and Kumoi Fall are dotted. It is wonderful to take a walk in the season of new leaves, or red leaves.

Castle Hirosaki and cherry blossoms (Hirosaki City)

Castle Hirosaki is one of the major cherry blossom-viewing spots in Japan. In spring, about 2,600 cherry trees bloom, and create captivating and beautiful scenery with the castle tower, three turrets, five castle gates, and triple moats.
